Government hits out at 'unprofessional' A1GP

A1GP comes under fire from the Queensland government as the row over the Nikon SuperGP continues
Acting Queensland premier Andrew Fraser has hit out at A1GP and organisers of the Nikon SuperGP as questions continue to be raised about next weekend's event on the Gold Coast.

With the A1GP cars still sitting on British soil due to ongoing financial disagreements, making it appear increasingly likely that the series will fulfil its commitments to race at Surfers Paradise.

The state government had imposed a deadline of 11am on Friday [local time] to receive information from event organisers about the situation, but no news has yet been forthcoming.

"We have not received those assurances yet and clearly we're dissatisfied with that," Fraser was quoted by the Brisbane Times. "It's very unprofessional of this organisation to be allowing the viability of this event and their participation to be drawn into question.

"Disgracefully, the reputation of the event has been tarnished by the actions of this group and we're not happy about it, I frankly think that a V8 supercar event on the Gold Coast will be just as good."

A1GP and event organisers have until Wednesday until they will be in technical breach of contract, with Fraser assuring taxpayers that the government had 'good footing' for legal action should contractual obligations not be met.
