Pla joins Watts in LNT Ginetta-Zytek

Team LNT has revealed that former GP2 regular Olivier Pla will share the new Ginetta-Zytek LMP1 entry with Britain's Danny Watts in next weekend's Petit Le Mans marathon.

Twice a winner in the grand prix feeder championship, the 26-year old Frenchman has impressed in this season's European-based Le Mans Series in what has been his
first year of prototype sportscar racing. A fourth place in the highly-competitive LMP2 class at the Le Mans 24 Hours was followed up by a podium place in the Autosport 1000km of Silverstone, where he showed blistering pace, particularly during a triple stint behind the wheel of the Quifel-ASM Lola.

Pla, who will be making his American Le Mans Series debut at Road Atlanta, has already tested the Ginetta-Zytek at Snetterton, where he admitted to being impressed by the car's potential to be one of the quickest cars in its class. For Petit Le Mans, the updated machine will appear in LMP1 guise with Zytek's all-new 4.5-litre engine.

"It's a big opportunity for me to race a Ginetta-Zytek," Pla commented, "The car has a lot of potential and I am very much looking forward to driving it at Petit Le Mans.

"It is going to be great to drive alongside Danny Watts too, and I think the partnership has got the potential for an excellent result. I would also like to thank Quifel-ASM, for whom I have competed this season, for giving me the opportunity to take this drive with Team LNT."

The ten-hour endurance event will be the second time that Team LNT has run a Zytek, its LMP2 car having been the leading petrol-engined car during the early stages of last year's Silverstone 1000km. Englishman Watts was one of the drivers on that occasion, and the team has said that his impending partnership with Pla should prove the worth of the Ginetta-Zytek design ahead of the 2009 season.
