Drayson rejoins British government

Drayson-Barwell driver Paul Drayson is to return to the British government after being handed the position of science minister by Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Drayson, who competes alongside Johnny Cocker in the Drayson-Barwell Aston Martin Vantage in the American Le Mans Series, had previously held the role of defence minister before electing to stand down from his role to focus on his dream of competing in the Le Mans 24 Hours.

Drayson's new role will allow him to continue with his current racing programme.

"I'm really delighted as this is my dream job," he said. "Motorsport is just the sort of high-tech, high-growth industry that the British excel at. It sets a great example of how the UK can lead the world in applying science and engineering to win."
