Corsa set for hybrid debut

Corsa Motorsport will run its Ginetta-Zytek 09HS as a hybrid for the first time as the American Le Mans Series heads to Lime Rock this weekend for the resumption of the 2009 campaign.

The team has previously raced the car on conventional power, but the Lime Rock event will mark the first time that the outfit will make full use of the hybrid system installed in the LMP1 machine.

The KERS systems has been tested away from the race track and has now been fully accepted as a hybrid, with Johnny Mowlem and Stefan Johansson sharing driving duties again at Lime Rock.

“Nothing moves development forward like racing,” Mowlem said. “We generated a great deal of information about the car and we've been able to apply it to the car for this race. We've had a long stint between races and that has worked to our advantage.”
