Joneses lose Knockhill victory

The results of the third and fourth rounds of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship have taken on a whole new look after six cars were excluded from the two races at Knockhill on video evidence.

Having reviewed video evidence of the weekend's racing, points leaders Michael Cullen and Paddy Shovlin were excluded from their fifth place finish in the opening race of the weekend after Shovlin was deemed to have overtaken one of his rivals under yellow flags.

However, the CR Scuderia pair have now been given victory in the second race, despite taking the flag in fifth place more than a month ago when the event took place.

That comes with the top four finishers having all been excluded from the results for the same offence of overtaking under yellow flags, with the Eurotech Ascari of David Jones, the CIM Ferrari of Hector Lester, the 22GTRacing Aston Martin of Adrian Wilmott and the RPM Viper of Steve Clark all being thrown out of the race โ€“ with the Jones brothers losing their first win in the Ascari as a result.

The Lamborghini of Leo Machitski was also excluded from the second race for driving standards, which is believed to relate to his coming together at the final chicane with the similar Gallardo of Team Modena.

While the amended result and championship positions have been released by series organisers SRO โ€“ which now see Cullen and Shovlin with a six point lead ahead of this weekend's racing at Rockingham โ€“ the results remain provisional pending any appeals.
