Beechdean confirms return

Beechdean Motorsport has announced that it will return to the Avon Tyres British GT Championship in 2009.

The team, which pulled out of the series earlier this year over what it felt was a lack of equalisation in the GT4 class, will run a brace of Aston Martin N24s in the series, with drivers still to be announced.

The decision comes following changes to the rules of the GT4 class, which will see the regulations in place in the European GT4 Cup implemented in the British series.

The provisional calendar, released to teams and which is believed to include a round at the famous Spa circuit in Belgium, has also played a role in the team's decision to return.

It remains to be seen how the implementation of the European GT4 rules will affect the British GT grid in 2009, with the Ginetta G50 – which dominated the British GT4 class this season – not able to race in the GT4 class itself in Europe.

Instead the car was classed in the GT4 Lights category, a move which didn't go down well with either Ginetta or teams that had planned to run the car in the European series.
