MTech has taken its second straight Avon Tyres British GT Championship pole after Matt Griffin posted the quickest time in qualifying for the two hour race at Silverstone.
Griffin posted a quickest time of 1min 23.034secs at the wheel of the team's Ferrari 430 Scuderia to secure top spot ahead of the VRS Ferrari of Adam Wilcox, with the Invitational Class Ginetta Zytek of Ollie Bryant and Piers Johnson third.
"It was hard work," Griffin said. "My first run on new tyres didn't work, so we though that was that and we wouldn't get pole. But then Duncan started going quickly and so we brought him in and I went out again to give it another shot..."
Points leaders David and Godfrey Jones will start from fourth on the grid ahead of the RPM Ford GT, with the Aaron Scott/Craig Wilkins Viper completing the top six. The Rosso-Verde UCB Ferrari, which was expected to challenge for pole, will start from the back after throttle issues.
In GT4, champion elect Jody Firth posted the quickest time to give Team WFR pole amongst the three Ginetta runners.
