Crack Ferrari team Chad Racing is to field a double-strength squad in the 2010 Avon Tyres British GT Championship, with the focus very much on race wins and, hopefully, championship.

Following a successful season in 2009 with a single Ferrari 430 for Chris Hyman and Paul Warren, Chad is to expand its stable to three cars for the coming year, all of them to the latest GT3 Scuderia specification.

“We will race two cars in the UK and one in Europe,” revealed team boss Piers Masarati, “We take delivery of a brand new chassis next week, testing begins soon, and we have three of the four drivers signed already for British GT. It's great to have our plans so well advanced so far ahead of the new season, and that bodes well for our prospects. We will be gunning for the championship and race wins in 2010, that's for sure with the driver line-up we have...”

Chad's new machine will be shaken down soon and the team has engaged a top test driver to optimise set-up.

“We will also be having a new hospitality unit at each event,” Masarati added, “and the whole team will receive new branding, including the cars. We plan to announce the driver line-up shortly.”

Chad is one of several new and returning teams to have underlined their commitment to British GT in recent weeks, and championship promoter SRO Motorsports Group is pressing ahead with plans to revitalise the championship, with a new class structure designed to increase the number of eligible cars and new marketing initiatives to help boost grid sizes. The new championship calendar will be revealed soon.
