Barwell Motorsport has announced that it will enter a new Zytek-engined Ginetta G50Z into the Avon Tyres British GT Championship for the 2009 season.
The team will run the GT3-specification machine into the Invitation Class of the series this season in selected events, with the car running alongside the Aston Martin DBRS9 of Beechdean pairing Andrew Howard and Jamie Smyth � which will contest the full season.
Piers Johnson will be one of the drivers involved in the programme, with discussions ongoing with a number of other drivers regarding other opportunities behind the wheel.
The Ginetta, which has been undergoing an extensive development programme with the factory team, is likely to appear at the annual British GT media day at Silverstone next week with the team also looking into running in the 24 hour events at Spa and Zolder later in the year.
