Bryant joins Barwell Ginetta programme

Barwell Motorsport has announced that Olly Bryant will play a role in its Avon Tyres British GT Championship programme with the new Zytek-powered Ginetta G50Z.

The 23-year-old will drive the car in the events at Spa, Rockingham, Snetterton and Silverstone, with Piers Johnson sharing driving duties in the three races on British soil. Discussions are ongoing with a number of interested parties regarding driving the car alongside Bryant at Spa.

The Belgian race will mark the debut in the British GT arena for the car, which will run as an Invitational Class entry as it awaits homologation to the GT3 regulations.

“I'm really looking forward to working with Barwell Motorsport and Ginetta on this exciting new project,” Bryant said. “We have a good opportunity to race with the British GT front-runners, and it offers me the chance to develop an ongoing relationship with a leading British sportscar manufacturer.”

With Barwell running the car with factory support from Ginetta, Bryant will also aid the factory with development of the new car.

"Ginetta Cars is delighted that Olly will be joining Barwell and Ginetta to take on the challenge in BGT with the new G50Z,” Ginetta MD, Richard Dean said. “Having spoken to Olly on numerous occasions over the past few years about driving for Ginetta, we are looking forward to his experience and his contribution to the G50Z in its first season."
