Gregor Fisken made it two British GT victories in consecutive rounds at Rockingham after he and team-mate Dan Brown took class honours in the second race.

Fisken had qualified the Momo-backed Rollcentre Mosler MT900 ninth during Saturday's session despite running with a damaged steering rack and front wishbone.

Taking the first stint where he would race against his rival teams' 'gold class' drivers, the Scot was able to spar with the main pack until the Safety Car was deployed as the remnants of MTECH's fire-gutted Ferrari were removed.

When it peeled off after six laps, Fisken was again able to maintain his position in the lead group comfortably. Saturday's race had shown that the Mosler's tyre wear was high however and, with Brown waiting in the pits, it was decided that Fisken would hand over at the first available opportunity.

As soon as the pit stop window opened he was in and good work by the Rollcentre crew ensured that Brown was back out in no time at all. Thanks to Gregor's competitive pace before the stop, he returned within striking distance of those ahead and duly picked one off after another as each made their mandatory driver change.

With the round of pit stops out of the way and still revelling on his reasonably fresh rubber, Brown found himself third. He soon dispatched Hector Lester for second before setting off in pursuit of David Jones' Ascari. The pair enjoyed a terrific battle along with the Invitational Class Ginetta G50 over the last ten laps, although it was only on the final tour that Brown made his move stick on the Ascari to take GT3 class honours.

Those ten points, added to the five that the pair scored for a hard earned fourth place in Saturday's first race, saw the duo leave Rockingham as the highest points scorers of the weekend. Despite missing the opening round at Silverstone, Fisken now lies sixth in the standings, just eight points adrift of team-mate Brown at the top.

Following his British GT victory at the last round in Spa two weeks ago, Fisken was just as delighted with the Rockingham result.

“It was another great weekend and my thanks go to the Rollcentre guys who all did an excellent job, as always,” he said. “We had some dramas after qualifying but they worked well to give us a car that we could at least hussle around the track, even if it wasn't 100 cent, in race one.

“I've also got to say a big thanks and well done to Dan. Despite being just 17, he's got a very experienced head on young shoulders. We learnt from our mistakes on Saturday, changed the car accordingly and used it intelligently and to good effect on Sunday. Obviously I'm delighted.”
