Lowry maintains upward trend

Ian Lowry repaid his Relentless Suzuki by TAS mechanics for their efforts in rebuilding his bike following qualifying by finishing sixth in the latest round of the ViSK.com British Superbike Championship at Knockhill.

The Relentless team were left with plenty of work to do when Lowry was caught up in an accident involving Glen Richards, the Ulsterman fortunately escaping uninjured from the crash.

Making it out for race day, Lowry would embark on an exciting tussle with Simon Andrews for what could have potentially been a career-high result of fourth place. As it happens, a late safety car period caught Lowry out and dropped him to sixth behind Andrews and James Ellison.

Furthermore, a mechanical issue in race two prevented him from finishing well too, but Lowry was pleased with his performances nonetheless.

“I'm a bit disappointed as I got robbed in race one right at the end for fourth place; then in race two we had to retire with a mechanical problem. We had made some radical chassis changes for race two, which I was looking forward to trying out over a full race distance on my GSX–R1000 Superbike.

The boys did a great job with the bike after working late into the night to get it ready for me – so a big thanks to everyone. It's now time to knuckle down and finish the season with some strong results.”
