Harris to ride Rob Mac Yamaha at Croft

Days after being released from his contract with Hydrex Honda, Karl Harris has confirmed he will be on the MCE British Superbike grid for Croft after inking a one-race deal with former employers Rob Mac Racing.

Harris, who couldn't save his seat at Shaun Muir's team despite currently sitting fourth in the standings, will replace Jon Kirkham on the Node4 Yamaha, who has been struggling for fitness since breaking his hand earlier in the season.

A return to the team he competed with in 2008, Harris was delighted to secure an immediate place back in the field and is looking forward to sampling the Yamaha R1.

"Croft will be a great chance for me to push for a result, the Yamaha has looked great this season and I have seen Chris riding hard. Friday morning will be my introduction to the bike and I am really up for it, if I can help Chris over the weekend and we can both do well for our teams I am sure Rob will be happy!"

Prompted by Rob McElnea's desire not to travel to Croft with just a single rider after revealing the injured Graeme Gowland won't be competing either, he too was pleased to be welcoming back Harris to the fold.

"Its not ideal having to fit new riders into a team when the season is running but with Jon not strong enough due to his injuries and Graeme carrying a knock I really did not want to go into Croft with Chris on his own.

“We know the pace Karl has and the feedback we get from his fast laps will definitely help the development of the new R1 and we need to finish strong for our partners Motorpoint / Henderson's, Node4 and FJ Gallen."

I remember him winning the BSS on a HM Plant Honda - that was a recent highpoint - since then he hasn't really done much despite having access to a HM Plant Superbike in 2006
