MotoGP stars head for Silverstone BSB

Motorcycle Grand Prix stars past and present are to attend the forthcoming Silverstone round of the MCE British Superbike Championship.

Several MotoGP legends will attend the event - which looks set to see Leon Camier crowned the 2009 BSB champion - to meet fans, sign autographs and offer their thoughts on the return of MotoGP to Silverstone from 2010.

Silverstone is investing more than £5 million on improvements for MotoGP, including changes to the track, spectator and viewing facilities. A new section of track will make it one of the longest, fastest and most challenging bike circuits in the world.

Randy Mamola, winner of the 1980 and 1984 500GPs at Silverstone, will be joined by former British world championship riders Steve Parrish, Jeremy McWilliams, Niall MacKenzie and Rob McElnea for two Q&A and autograph sessions with the BSB fans at Silverstone.

The former grand prix stars will also look back at the riders and machines of their time, plus some of the epic battles that have been fought around the super-fast circuit.

In addition, a number of Britain's current 125cc grand prix riders will be looking ahead to next year's MotoGP round at Silverstone, including 2009 grand prix winner Bradley Smith.

Eurosport commentator Toby Moody will be hosting the Q&A sessions, while a number of current and classic MotoGP bikes will also be on display.

The Silverstone BSB round takes place on September 25-27.

The tickets seem to be quite a reasonable price. £27 weekend advance is comparable to Oulton Park at £29.

Motor racing is expensive and race day tickets for all events (4 or 2 wheels)seem to all be about the same price.

Personally I think it is good value. Before anyone says, I am not connected with any venue, I am merely a fan.
