Positive Harris back on form at Oulton

Karl Harris admits he cannot explain why Oulton Park is such a happy hunting ground for him after dominating the opening day of British Superbike action around the Cheshire circuit.

Harris enjoyed his BSB best round to date when the series visited Oulton Park earlier in the year, the ex-Hydrex Honda rider finishing second to Leon Camier in both races.

Although his season would take a downward turn from that point, eventually culminating in him being sacked by the Hydrex team, Harris is proving quick around the circuit once again on Honda machinery, this time with the revived SMT outfit.

Still, while Harris confesses he isn't sure why Oulton Park suits his riding style, he reveals a new engine being used by the Stiggy Honda World Superbike team is certainly having an effect.

“I just enjoy riding the circuit and always go well, but really I don't why – it's just one of those things, though fitting the engines that Leon Haslam uses in World Superbikes has made a big difference, he said.

Looking ahead to the remainder of the weekend, Harris isn't ruling out a maiden victory, even if he is remaining coy about the prospect.

“A first win in Superbikes? That would be nice, but I don't make predictions.”
