Easton snatches maiden BSB pole

Stuart Easton will start the final round of his breakthrough British Superbike season from pole position after edging out Leon Camier at Oulton Park.

A maiden pole position for the Scot, who won his first ever BSB race recently at Croft, Easton went fastest with four minutes remaining, doing enough to hold onto the position until the chequered flag.

Practice pace setter Karl Harris had set an impressive early benchmark, his first two efforts seeing him set the fastest lap of the weekend so far. However, after being nudged down to second by Leon Camier, Easton would go on to beat both of them with a time of 1min 36.042secs.

Halting a consecutive run of five pole positions for Camier, Easton will be joined on the front row by Hydrex Honda counterpart Tommy Hill, who secured his best starting position since joining the team in fourth.

Easton's rival for the runners-up spot overall, James Ellison, will lead the second row in fifth position, ahead of Josh Brookes and Michael Rutter, the Bathams Ducati rider producing an impressive performance to return the 1098 to the top ten on only his second outing with the team.

Ian Lowry took Suzuki honours in eighth, ahead of factory representative Sylvain Guintoli, while John Laverty was the only Kawasaki representative to reach the shootout in tenth.

Elsewhere, Glen Richards couldn't join his Honda counterparts in the top ten, the Australian settling for 11th, just ahead of Superbike debutant Alastair Seeley, the Relentless Suzuki rider doing a fine job to out-qualify Simon Andrews and Chris Walker.

In the Cup category, Tommy Bridewell will start from pole position in 17th position overall, ahead of new champion Gary Mason in 18th and Tom Tunstall in 19th.
