Glen Richards: I haven’t signed!

"I certainly haven't spoken to them about riding - let alone signed for them!" - Glen Richards.
Glen Richards has told Crash.net that his priority remains staying in BSB with HM Plant Honda next season, despite a report claiming he had signed for TAG Triumph in British Supersport.

The Australian, who won the 2008 BSS crown for MAP Embassy Triumph, is unsure what triggered the story, explaining that his relationship with the TAG team is purely personal.

“I spend a lot of time with the TAG Triumph team purely because Youngy [Paul Young] rides for them and so does Peter Ward, who is also a friend of mine and lives around the corner from me," he said.

"Their chief mechanic used to be my chief mechanic at Hawk and I know team owner Rob Winfield personally as well.

“So I know everybody there, but I certainly haven't spoken to them about riding - let alone signed for them!

“I'm still under contract for the rest of the year with HM Plant Honda and I'm looking to stay with the team for next year.

“I'm waiting, like the rest of the team, to find out what Honda want to do for 2010. Once we know Honda's plans I'll go from there.”

And when do you think you'll know?

“It keeps getting put back, we should have found out already but we haven't,” he replied. “It's just one of those things with the current economic climate - things are happening a lot later than normal and that is the case for a lot of teams. We'll just have to sit tight and see what happens.”

Richards missed five rounds of this year's BSB championship after fracturing his femur at Knockhill. He returned to finish the season twelfth overall with one podium to his credit.
