Harris 'almost certain' to be on 2010 BSB grid

Karl Harris puts a difficult 2009 behind him by stating he is 'almost certain' to be on the BSB grid in 2010.
Karl Harris says he is 'almost certain' to be racing in British Superbikes next season, despite a troubled 2009 that saw him ride for three different teams.

Harris began the year with front runners Hydrex Honda, the former British Supersport champion showing pace during the first few rounds to occupy a top five position in the standings for a lengthy period.

Despite this, Harris was unable to get on terms with less experienced team-mate Stuart Easton, before a further dip in results during the second-half of the year would ultimately see him get dropped by Shaun Muir.

Save for a one-off outing on the Node4 Yamaha, Harris landed at SMT Honda for the final two rounds, the 'Bomber' putting in a good turn before an accident during the opening race at Oulton Park would sideline him for the remaining event.

Ending up 14th in the overall standings, Harris is nonetheless adamant his future remains in British Superbikes, confirming he has been talking to a number of teams, including Kawasaki.

"It is almost certain I will be back in BSB next year and I have been speaking to a few teams and yes, that does include Kawasaki,” he told the BSB website. “This season was tough for me, but next year will be better and I hope to even throw in the Isle of Man TT race too as well as BSB.

Speaking about his crash at the Oulton Park finale, which occurred after a tangle with his Hydrex replacement Tommy Hill, Harris says he is almost back to full fitness having suffered concussion in the high-speed accident.

"I am almost back to normal now after the crash at Oulton Park. It wasn't too bad the next day, but I definitely felt it on the Monday afterwards. It has mainly been my back that has been bad and has just really ached but it is getting better now and I can almost get back training hard again so I am really ready for next season.”
