Haslam out to prove Cadwell credentials

Leon Haslam is expecting to maintain his strong form around the Cadwell Park circuit now that he can call himself a winner with HM Plant Honda.

While his victory at Knockhill came after a lengthy period of adapting to the Honda machine, Haslam is well placed to build on that as he comes to the circuit where he has won races over the last three seasons.

However, each of those was achieved on a Ducati and with HM Plant often struggling by their standards, it remains to be seen whether Haslam can haul the Honda to better results. He is confident though that he can bring the team up to speed.

"Cadwell Park has been a good track for me in the past and I have won here the last few years,” he told the British Superbike website. “We tested there a while ago, but it was only half a day and the other teams including Yamaha and Suzuki have also been testing there so we should be quite equal in that respect. I think the competition at the front will be the same as usual.

"In the past this has not been a good track for HM Plant Honda and the Ducatis have gone well there, but the bike is running well with some changes we made at Knockhill so I can't see any reason why we can't be up there challenging again for the win or the double."

Meanwhile, Haslam is looking forward to the new qualifying format to be introduced this weekend, even if he doesn't expect it to change the hierarchy on the grid.

"I think that the new qualifying will bring a different spice to the weekend," he added. "I hope that nobody gets caught out in the first sessions, but I think it will still be the usual suspects at the top. It is definitely going to be exciting for the fans that's for sure."
