Kawasaki out, Kirkham through

For the fourth race in succession, Kawasaki won't have a representative in the top ten shootout at Brands Hatch after Billy McConnell was bumped out at the last moment.

McConnell was looking good to get 'Team Green' into the top ten for the first time since the 'knockout' format of qualifying was first introduced at Cadwell Park, but while he was ninth with only a minute remaining, he would eventually end up 11th.

Behind McConnell, there were few surprises with Atsushi Watanabe starting 12th, ahead of John Laverty, Tristan Palmer, David Johnson, Gary Mason, Stuart Easton, Guy Martin, Shannon Etheridge and Scott Smart.

Meanwhile, John Kirkham, who has replaced Karl Harris at the last-minute on the Rob Mac Yamaha, was the star of the session, claiming the ninth fastest time to get another chance in the upcoming shootout.

Shane Byrne was the fastest rider in that session.
