Honda Racing UK manager Neil Tuxworth has said that Honda's decision to quit Formula One will have no bearing on the Japanese manufacturers entry in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

Honda confirmed on Friday that it was to pull out of F1 with immediate effect due to the current global economic climate, which has hit car manufacturers hard in recent months.

However, Tuxworth said the decision by Honda bosses in Japan would have no effect on the HM Plant entry into the BSB, with the four-wheel and two-wheel divisions of the company being separate entities.

"Car and motorcycle racing are run by different divisions," he told BBC Lincolnshire, "so this will have no effect on the motorcycling side."

With Leon Haslam and Cal Crutchlow moving on to pastures new for 2009, HM Plant will run Glen Richards and Joshua Brooks in BSB next season.
