terry currey, I never said Guintoli SHOULD be on the racing line. What I said was that it appeared he turned in early, thus, off of the racing line. The rider alongside him appeared to take the racing line which makes Guintoli appear to turn in early. Brookes maybe saw them in front of him and expected them to stay on line and then the inevitable happened.

As I said, I'm not blaming any rider. I know it's hard to see properly in the video, but that's what I read from it.

The seriousness of the penalty should suit the seriousness of the incident, and therefore Brookes should have had a longer ban. As suggested before, maybe this should have been the same length of time as Guintoli is out.
Brookes should also be penalised further for lying.
Guintoli has been a revelation so far in BSB, and the series will be much the poorer during his absence.

I think that the BSB organisers should now implement a speed limit on the sighting lap - something which is left to the riders - Josh has shown that he's not a sensible person so, once again, someone else has suffered from one person's stupidity. I think he should be banned for at least 2 meetings, and fined as well - hitting the pocket is always a good punishment. Hope the rest of the riders take note of this and take care in the future to avoid the likes of this happening again.

Just looked at the incident on youtube. To me, Guintoli turned in early at Melbourne Loop and straight into Brookes. Its obvious that their was quite a speed differential between the two, but it is a warm up lap, you can go fast if you want. Quite frankly, some of the comments about Josh on this website are outrageous, racing incident fullstop.Get well soon Guinters.

Errrrr - Fujigas - why should Sylvain be on the racing line? - he wasnt racing - it wasnt even the warm up lap fer christsakes - no rule to prevent riders going at race pace, but if they do, then they really should concentrate at race pace too!
- Suspended ban no punishment at all really - especially as it looks like Sylvains injuries are worse than origionally thought - agree with the idea that he gets to race again when Sylvain does - its only fair - or just put Plater back on the bike - that works for me!

Also i really hope this guy has a massive guilt trip,
and I HEREBY CALL FOR A GREATER PUNISHMENT THAN A RACE BAN, this wasn't just a mistake, it was supidity and has cost guintters big time. maybe hm plant should do the honourable thing and get rid! sorry about the persistance in this but it has knackered the championship.

always thought from watching that crash that is was his fault not the bike, he's not a class act like eveybody else and all on his own has screwed the bsb championship for us all.! because guintters was the only rider who was going to challenge camier. australian pratt.

His Story has changed again...brake fade... more like brain fade! If your brakes feel wrong you check behind then brake earlier to check them, maybe pump them to check for pump up.
You don't go full chat and brake at the last moment then wonder why you have just smashed someone else's leg on the sighting lap. Oh yes the less than expected retardation could be from pumping the brakes, might be wise to get brain in gear before going out to race.
Used to like and respect Brookes not now with the talk coming from him. He should even now, hold his hands up say he effed up, wont make the same mistake again and go and say sorry to SG.

I think people are more p*ssed that he's sidelined the most charismatic and exciting rider we've had in BSB for some years.I'm sure Josh must be gutted. We've all done things where we wish we could go back.A suspended ban is right,as other posters have said,Josh isn't exactly a liability.

i believe that Josh honestly thought he had a problem with the brakes. it even states in the release that the brakes were pumped before braking for the turn. why would you do that if you thought the brakes were fine. as for entering at race speed, now confident that the "brake pump" may have settled the pads he obviously tried it with decent load i.e. race speed. I think his mind was occupied making sure his bike was ready to race. Imagine the carnage if he'd started the race with no brakes, potentially many for riders could have gone down. I think anyone else could have made the same error in the same situation. it was extremely unlucky and the penalty it too harsh.
