Josh, you were going at a ridiculous speed for a siting lap, braked far too late coming into the Melbourne Loop, was riding like a complete moron and broke a competitors leg, completely ruining his chance of challenging for the BSB title. You were then given a ridiculously light penalty for this moronic act. Clear enough now??

Brooks was at racing speed on a warm up lap, pretty pointless really especially heading into a first gear hairpin at the end of the lap.Sure it was an accident but he shouldn't have been going that fast at that point. The checks to his bike has shown his breaks were in full working order, with a slight dip inbetween. If the guy had been riding it like he should have been on the sighting lap then there wouldn't have been a problem. He got of lightly in contrast to poor old Sylvain, which has now knackered his title chances for this year.Get well soon mate.

Come Willard, j.b. screwed up, plane and simple,
whether you are english, aussie french or whatever thats obvious. but what is also plane is that the aussie ***t has messed the bsb up this year, yep great contribution from brookes - take out one of the main title hopes.

The bit I'd like 'clarifying' is why he's got of so lightly.

Linking his suspension to Guintoli's recovery would be crude - but it would be proportionate.
Plus it would send a very clear signal as to what can be expected for riding recklessly.

No way was this a 'racing incident'.
There was no race underway.
It is totally different.
It was more akin to incompetence or arrogance.

As for portraying it as 'its because he's an Aussie'.... Its because he's inept. If anyone else had done it the response would be the same. Appreciate that might be a bit difficult for some people who are only well balanced because they've got a chip on each shoulder to get their head round.

I was actually watching Josh as he approached the hairpin from a very good, side on vantage point. My immediate thoughts were that he was going into it way way too fast. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with his brakes because when he was already in too deep, I could see him slam the brakes on ,and the back wheel clearly lifting a couple of times, a split second before he collided with Silvain. This is what I actually saw. Draw your own conclusions.

Since when are brakes 'breaks' - an unfortunate misspelling given the outcome!
If Brookes did feel there was a brake problem on his sighting lap, he might have been testing them to make a decision on whether to have them checked or just carry on with the start and hope all would be good. A pity it turned out like it did - but he could still have skittled someone in the first corner of the race if the brakes acted up again.

Why do people keep going on about how he was going at race pace on a sighting lap, there is nothing in the rules that says you have to go slowly on a sighting lap. Not only are you quite within the rules to do so, but you are allowed to do more than one sighting lap, as long as you go through the pits.
The rules say Riders must ride in a responsible manner which does not cause danger to other competitors or participants, and it applies two ways, if you are going quickly be careful and stay on line and if you are going slowly keep well off line and make doubly sure of what's coming up behind you (the only time on a race track you need to pay more attention to what's behind you!).

This was nothing more than a very misfortunate accident . I cannot believe JB is making up a story about dodgy brakes . That is the kind of thing young kids would do if caught in the act .

Assuming that he was trying hard on his outlap and at race pace, then he would have braked very hard for the Foggy esses. It isn't realistic to expect people to believe he suddenly had brake fade problems 200m later.

Brake fade no.

Brain fade yes.

I have nothing against the guy, he just hasn't covered himself in glory so far. Can't fill in the correct paperwork on time and now this!

Get well soon Sylvain.
