BSB should stay the same except there should be a control ecu that everyone uses.

BSB » Richards wants all-Evo BSB

Glen Richards thinks technical rules for the new British Superbike 'Evolution' class should be introduced throughout the BSB grid.

The only problem i can see with it is that riders in BSB get a good opportunity to wildcard in WSB due to the current regulations.
I do agree that it could/would make for closer racing if it were adopted across the paddock but my first love is WSB and i'd like to see our talented pool of riders getting the chance to show their stuff

That's an excellent point- BSB should mirror WSBK where possible.
However, I must admit I love the idea of the 'Evo' spec. 180bhp is massive power in a 170kg motorcycle and it would tighten the gulf between factory and privateer teams.
BSB is production racing and if production bikes are capable of 190mph then they're certainly quick enough to be raced in a premier series!
BTCC is about 330 bhp or something and gets tons of TV coverage and sponsorship- a BSB bike would eat up a touring car, and we all know they're nowhere near production cars except for their silhouette!
This would make BSB like the Formula 1 of old.

Give it a 17" wheel and it'll be even closer to production...

Have to agree with Richards.I want to see close racing like last Saturday's first Superbike race. I don't want to see the teams with the most money and electronics win...like this year. The benefits must surely be closer racing, more teams, less cost. :)

Superbike is superbike - leave it alone. Evo is rigthly a seperate class. I understand the want to ban electronics but stardard engines is not superbike racing.

Its a great idea. The total dominationseen in BSB last few years in terrible and all the good riders are going off to ride somewhere else

plus Id love british riders to have a realistic chance of going down the Moto2/Motogp as well as motogp

"stardard engines is not superbike racing"

unless I'm mistaken, the German and Australian superbike series work fine using basically superstock spec engines (and South Africa as well?)

and lets face it, was racing any less good when a full works RG500 made "only" 105 bhp...

If you had to pay the bills, would you rather have a bill for 5K for a blue printed superstock spec engine or 25K for a full superbike spec, which needs to be rebuilt a lot more often, if both were equally competitive?

Cheaper racing equals fuller grids, and fuller grids means more people fighting for every place.

Yes i do think it would make better racing, but bsb must mirror wsbk otherwise wsb teams wont be able to compare riders. But i think a standard ecu is a better option for bsb and wsb.

I agree with rawdawg, If they were to change it, it couldn't be called superbike anymore. I like the format but it shouldn't be considered to replace the full wsb regulations pinnacle. It would be a good alternative or stopgap for superstock.
Whatever happens they should mimic wsb's rules other wise it will be much harder for national guys to get on the world scene
