Team Maxxis skip Snetterton for 'safety reasons'

Team Maxxis-Adept has withdrawn from this weekend's Snetterton round of the ViSK.com British Superbike Championship, due to safety concerns.

The decision was made by Team Principal John Jameson earlier this week, after delays in receiving new parts for the team's YZF-R1 and following consultation with key sponsors and BSB officials

“We are all extremely disappointed in missing the round, but Snetterton is one of the fastest circuits in the series, which puts the bike under a lot of pressure,” he explained. “Therefore, we cannot ask the team to put a bike on the track or Dave to race until we are happy that all the new parts have been run at race distance under test conditions.”

“I spoke to Stuart [Higgs] and the team's sponsors and in the interest of safety to Dave and all the other riders, I decided we should take our time and get the bike tested on a dyno and out on a track ready in time for Knockhill.”

Maxxis rider David Johnson has scored just two points so far this season.
