Confidence key to Camier fight back

Leon Camier has extended his lead in the ViSK.com British Superbike Championship standings to 55 points after completing wins seven and eight at Snetterton.

The Airwaves Yamaha rider was once again in imperious form around the Norfolk circuit, scene of his first BSB victory twelve months ago, winning both races comfortably despite maintaining his tradition of getting away badly.

Indeed, Camier was forced to work his way back into contention in race one after falling as low as eighth, the championship leader admitting he was having to produce some 'desperate' moves to catch up

“The hard thing is to try and get past people,” he told Crash.net Radio. “We were lacking a bit on the straight, so we have work everything out again in the corner, and because there are only a few places where you can pass, I was having to think about my position carefully.

“I was trying to force people into errors and set moves up a couple of corners before so I can be in position to make a lunge on them. A couple of the moves were a bit desperate, but it is the way I had to do it to get past.”

Nonetheless, Camier has expressed his delight at his Airwaves Yamaha R1, saying he has the confidence to place it wherever he likes.

“The day I jumped on the bike I felt I can pass in any corner I want, which is mega. I put that down to working with GSE Racing for a second year because myself and my chief technician are working hard to have the bike exactly how I want it.”

“It is going to be hard to carry this momentum on, but we are going to try and do it! We thought this weekend would be hard because of the nature of the circuit, so it goes to show what an awesome job the Airwaves Yamaha team have done because we were able to break away, which is what I didn't think we would be able to do.”

I would like to see him start from the back of the grid. I bet he could get a podium at least!!! He just looks so comfortable.

Ideally, I would like Ellison to get a few more wins and close the gap, but I just can't see it happening. And this turn around from Brookes is far too late.

Donny is going to Good! Camier is in for a podium 4 sure!!!
