We need something special, Brookes admits

Josh Brookes admits that both himself and the HM Plant Honda team will need to 'come up with something special' if they are to get on terms with runaway British Superbike Championship leaders Airwaves Yamaha.

Brookes maintained his improved run of form at Snetterton with a pair of third place finishes, but having momentarily led the way in the second race, he was disappointed to be unable to pose a bigger threat to Leon Camier and James Ellison.

With the 2006 and 2007 champions yet to win a race this season, although Brookes was happy to be on the podium once again, he understands that he needs to be striving for victories.

“We are going to have to come up with something special to combat the Yamahas,” he told Crash.net Radio. “It is good for me and the HM Plant Honda team, but we won't be satisfied until we get a win.

“Race one was close, but Leon cleared off in race two and I made a heap of mistakes, so James got away too. I am happy to be on the podium again, but I am looking for something more now. It is disappointing not to be able to put up the challenge to Leon straight away.”

Brookes, who missed the opening round at Brands Hatch, has moved up to ninth position in the overall standings.
