Centurion 'Help for Heroes' at Silverstone

Centurion Racing is to help raise awareness of the charity 'Help for Heroes' and the dedicated work of the medical staff of Headley Court during the British Superbike Championship round at Silverstone this weekend.

The Supersport team is organising a day out for service personnel undergoing medical rehabilitation at Headley Court, following injuries sustained while on active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hydrex Honda has offered to support the initiative by providing free hospitality throughout the day for the visitors and their medical staff.

Silverstone Circuits Ltd has donated The Brooklands Suite as a viewing area for the day's racing activities, while Arai has donated two race helmets, with Help for Heroes artwork recreated by specialist race helmet artist Richard Stevens of RichArt Concepts.

These unique helmets will be worn during the British Supersport race by Centurion riders Dan Cooper (#20) and BJ Toal (#36), signed by Superbike and Supersport riders, and auctioned to raise money for the Charity. The money raised will go towards the rehabilitation work of Headley Court.

The Silverstone visitors will each receive a specially designed, commemorative team race shirt from Centurion Racing. Two race shirts will also be signed and auctioned alongside the helmets for the charity.

“As a former Royal Marine Commando with 21 years service, I understand the sacrifices that service personnel regularly make in the line of duty,” said Centurion co-owner Paul Rees. “For some of us this has resulted in life changing injuries. The work undertaken by Help for Heroes, and the specialist care provided by the medical staff of the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Headley Court, is so vitally important.

“Days out like this are an essential part of rehabilitation, and it is such a privilege to be able to show our support in this way. I'm very grateful to Shaun Muir and Hydrex Honda for their generosity, and would like to thank everyone who has donated either their time, their products, their skills or their support to make this day a success for these inspirational people.

"The signed race helmets are stunning and unique, and each will be slightly different so should prove to be rare and desirable collectors' items.”

"We are delighted to support our servicemen and women, whatever we do cannot repay them for their work commitment,” added Muir. “We hope we can give them a day to remember."
