Harris forced out of season finale

Karl Harris will not participate in the final British Superbike Championship round of the season at Oulton Park having been diagnosed with concussion following his race one accident.

Harris was battling for the lead of the race as the riders rounded Island bend on lap three, but was caught on the outside of Tommy Hill heading into the Shell hairpin, Harris having no choice but to run off the circuit.

With his SMT Honda digging into the ground, both rider and bike were flung into the gravel trap, Harris making heavy contact with the barrier.

Forcing the race to be stopped, Harris was taken to Leighton hospital for further assessment, where he was diagnosed with concussion and sore back. There was no evidence of any serious injuries, however.

Harris had been a star performer over the weekend, topping free practice before qualifying in third position for the three races.

Harris has signed for SMT for next season. Unfortunately that's another ride going to someone who's had their chances instead of an up and coming rider like Adam Jenkinson.

I've watched the crash a few more times and Hill was pushing it, but not recklessly. Easton got pushed wide because there's only one line through the kink leading up to Shell. Harris (for whatever reason) thought he could get round Hill on the outside of the hairpin, which is a no-no. You would think he'd be aware of the dangers of Shell after Shakey took him out last season there.

People continue to back Harris, but he's not had a decent race since Croft '07. Not to mention the drink problems he's had mid-season...
