Jos Menten has secured a late deal to compete in the FIA GT Championship after concluding an agreement to join the Austrian RBImmo Racing squad.
Menten, who drove alongside Peter Kox in a Lamborghini Murcielago last season, will partner Andrea Piccini in the team's Saleen S7R – which will be making its debut in the series this season.
With the car having undergone a series of updates over the winter after the team purchased the car from Konrad Motorsport, Menten said he was hopeful of a solid start to life with the car although he admits that the team won't really know where it stands before hitting the track for the first time.
“I was contacted by RBImmo last week and then everything went into overdrive,” he said. “The Saleen stems from Konrad Motorsport, fitted with the latest updates. We'll know more on our position in the field on Saturday after the qualifying session.
“Andrea Piccini is a strong driver and Franz Konrad's team has built up a solid reputation over the years, so we'll be travelling to Silverstone with a good package.”
