Belgian success sweet at Monza

It was a first podium finish for former GT1 drivers Biagi and Montanari, but it could all still change as Prospeed has appealed the stewards' decision, meaning that the GT2 results remain provisional.

The Belgian theme did continue, however, in G2, where the #101 Gillet Vertigo was the only car in class to be classified. The #111 ARC Bratislava Saleen S7R, which had a big lead in the class, suffered a fuel problem, while the two Mosler MT900Rs entered by GTO Charouz failed to finish.

Austrian team AT Racing claimed its second successive Citation Cup victory, with Wolfgang Kaufmann and Aliaksandr Talkanitsa finishing 18th overall in the Corvette C5-R.

In the points, Bouchut and Maassen now lead the GT1 standings with 15 points, while six drivers - Wendlinger, Sharp, Bertolini, Bartels, Peter and Simonsen - are tied on twelve. In the teams' classification, Vitaphone enjoys a seven-point lead over Jetalliance.

As things stand in GT2, AF Corse's first double of the year increases its - and the Bruni/Vilander crew's - lead in the GT2 classification.

The championship will remain in Italy for its next race, at Adria, on 21 June.
