Jetalliance return with a win

Jetalliance enjoyed a winning return to the FIA GT Championship at Brno after Karl Wendlinger and Ryan Sharp took victory in the latest round of the season.

The pair had been well placed for a strong weekend last time out in Romania after Wendlinger qualified on pole, but they were unable to take the start when the team was forced to withdraw both cars due to safety concerns over the front suspension on the DBR9.

With the issue resolved in time for the Czech weekend, Wendlinger duly qualified on pole position and led the way from the start, opening up his lead before pitting to hand over to Sharp.

The Scot completed his stint before Wendlinger took over for the run to the flag and he was only headed by the SRT team as Christophe Bouchut put off his second mandatory stop until just two laps from the finish, when Wendlinger moved back into the lead.

“I really had a great car at my disposal today – a big thank-you to the team,” Wendlinger said. “My Aston Martin was extremely consistent in both stints. That's why I was able to keep a very good pace. It has been a very, very enjoyable weekend for me – fastest time in pre-qualifying, then pole position on top of that, and now the win – just terrific. I'm really very happy!”

Team-mates Lukas Lichtner-Hoyer and Alex Muller took the flag in fifth place.
