Jetalliance to skip final event

Jetalliance Racing have confirmed they will not be making the trip to the FIA GT Championship season finale in Argentina as they tighten their belts in the current economic climate.

Having fallen away from the title fight last time out in France, Jetalliance have chosen not to compete at the San Luis event now that they cannot be beaten for third place in the overall standings.

The move has been prompted by the global financial turmoil, with team owner-driver Lukas Lichtner-Hoyer claiming that it doesn't make sense to travel across the world if they are unable to make any gains.

“I already voiced my opposition against overseas races in this series for financial reasons last year,” said the Austrian, who raced with Alex Muller this season.

“On the one hand, our title chance is already gone. On the other, being the proper businessmen that we are, the market slump is forcing us to take effective measures immediately in order to reduce costs associated with our ventures. Hence this unpopular decision.”

Despite the decision, the team have enjoyed good success in 2008, the combination of lead drivers Ryan Sharp and Karl Wendlinger delivering a total of three wins in the Aston Martin DBR9.
