One of the leading contenders for the
FIA GT series will miss this weekend's Hungarian round, following a major accident at Le Mans.
The Chamberlain car driven by Walter Brun and Toni Seiler was damaged beyond immediate repair when the senior partner suffered a high speed blow-out at La Sarthe and, although it will be rebuilt for use later in the year, cannot be readied in time for this weekend. The team's second car will be present, however, in the hands of local driver Zoltan Illis.
The Belmondo team will also be missing one of its Vipers, following an engine failure at Le Mans, although it has yet to be confirmed whether drivers Guy Martinolle and Jean-Claude Lagniez will also miss the Hungaroring event.
Present, however, will be the Lamborghini Diablo ruled out of the series' last round at
Silverstone by a practice accident. The Italian car has been repaired during the Le Mans break, and looks set to make its debut following two encouraging test sessions in Germany.
