Turner excited by Nissan challenge

Darren Turner says he is excited by the prospect of helping to develop the new GT1-spec Nissan GT-R during the 2009 FIA GT Championship season.

Turner will form part of the Gigawave Motorsport line-up for a limited programme this season, which will be used to help develop the car ahead of the 2010 campaign – when new GT1 rules will be brought into place in the series.

The NISMO-developed car will debut in the series at Silverstone and will also take part in the German round at Oschersleben and the Spa 24 Hours. The fourth event for the car has yet to be decided.

"I'm looking forward to helping NISMO and Gigawave develop the GT-R to make sure it is competitive in time for the new regulations in 2010," he said. "It's a real privilege to play a part in such an exciting programme.

"It's also good to be racing in the FIA GT Championship again as I have had some good results there in the past."
