Matech reveals Spa drivers

Matech Racing has announced the eight drivers that will share its two GT3-spec Ford GT cars in the upcoming Total 24 Hours of Spa.

The team has elected to run the GT3 cars as opposed to its 2010-GT1 spec car in the blue riband event on the FIA GT Championship calendar, and will field one European car and one South American car in the event.

Thomas Mutsch, Marc Hennerici, Maxime Martin and Peter Wyss will share one car while the second will be an all-Brazilian affair with Constantino Junior, Xandy Negrão, Clemente Lunardi and Andreas Mattheis at the wheel.

"I know that creating teams for one endurance race might hold some challenges in itself but I fully trust my drivers,” team principal Martin Bartek said. "Thomas is the 'factory' driver and extremely quick, Marc has proved in the driver seat of a Ford GT1 in Oschersleben how exceptionally good he can be, Maxime is one of the best GT3 drivers and currently holds third in the FIA GT3 European Championship, and Peter is one of the best endurance race drivers among the automotive journalists in Europe.

"Clemente and Constantino are doing quite well in the Brazilian GT3 Championship this year, they have won a race and finished on the podium several times, Xandy and Andreas have already shown their qualities last year by winning the Brazilian GT3 Championship on the wheels of a Ford GT3.

"I believe we have a very good package of cars and drivers for the 24H of Spa and hope that we can leave Belgium with nice memories.”
