Ganassi extends TELMEX deal

Chip Ganassi Racing has announced that its long-time partner TELMEX will return to back the #01 Lexus Riley in the 2009 Grand Am Rolex Series as Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas aim to defend their championship title.

Since TELMEX Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates' introduction into the Grand-Am Series in 2004, the team has dominated the field; winning three-consecutive Rolex 24 at Daytona's, three championships and 21 races during that five-year span.

“We have won three championships and a lot of races with TELMEX as our partners and we couldn't be happier,” team owner Chip Ganassi said. “We have certainly enjoyed the relationship we have had with TELMEX over the years and are looking forward to sharing many more successes with them.”

TELMEX chairman Carlos Slim was also delighted with the extended deal.

“The partnership that we have had with Chip, Felix and their whole organisation over the last five years has been nothing short of spectacular,” he said. “In just five years, we have won three championships and three Rolex 24 at Daytonas. That is hard to top.”
