Kristensen takes Sports Personality of the Year

Multiple Le Mans 24 hour race winner Tom Kristensen has been voted Sports Personality of the Year for the second time in his home country, Denmark.

The Audi factory driver, who this year scored his seventh Le Man victory, an all time record, received the award from the Sports Confederation of Denmark, the National Olympic Committee and daily newspaper, Jyllands-Posten.

As well as his Le Mans glory, Kristensen finished third in the DTM and was the top driver in the Race of Champions in Paris.

"I'm very proud of this award, for which I have Audi, my team mates and the R8 to thank," said Kristensen at the award ceremony in Herning, which was broadcast live in Danish television.

Kristensen came out on top against table tennis professional Michael Maze and shot putter Joachim B. Olsen.
