With his regular commitments with the Corvette Racing team seeing him race primarily in the United States, Oliver Gavin says he is looking forward to competing on home soil when he lines up on the grid at Silverstone next month for the final European race of the Le Mans Series season.
Gavin, who has won the GT1 title in the American Le Mans Series on two occasions and is a four time class winner at Le Mans, will rejoin the Luc Alphand Aventures team for his home round on the LMS calendar.
Indeed, Gaving will line up in the same Corvette C6.R that he drove to victory at La Sarthe last season.
"I haven't raced at Silverstone since 1998 so I can't wait for the Le Mans Series round," he said."The last time was in the Porsche Supercup event in support of the Grand Prix. I went really well that weekend and finished 2nd in wet and really tricky conditions – it was certainly a lot of fun.
"I can't wait to get back there. The chance to race the same car I have run for the past six years in the US and Le Mans is a great opportunity. It really is kind of a dream for me. It will be nice to share the weekend with family and friends and actually sleep in my own bed the night before a race – I haven't done that for a very long time."
