Larbre Competition's Fabrizio Gollin and Gabriele Gardel are hoping a bit of last minute experience of the Silverstone circuit will work in their favour as they look to overhaul Saleen in the latest round of the Le Mans Series.
The Italian duo, who will team up in the Aston Martin DBR9 GT1 with Christophe Bouchut this weekend, entered a BMW M3 in the Britcar 24 Hours held just a week earlier to try and gain an advantage around the British circuit.
Finishing fourth overall and second in class, Gollin and Gardel are looking to translate that into beating the Oreca Saleen of Soheil Ayari and Stephane Ortelli having finished second behind them at Spa-Francorchamps.
Indeed, they are confident though that they will go well on a circuit that has suited the Aston Martin in the past.
“The championship is so close and so we are very determined to get a good result at Silverstone,” Gollin said. “I feel that we will be very close to the pace of the Saleen and if we can have the luck which deserted us at Spa then there is no reason why we can't take maximum points.”
“We're delighted to be running the same basic specification of car we had at Spa because we were much more competitive there,” Gardel added. “We desperately want to win the title, for me it would be my third in a row which would be an achievement I would be very proud of.”
