Contrary to initial expectation, Pescarolo Sport has confirmed that it
will contest November's Le Mans Series finale in Brazil, having left the penultimate round just a handful of points off the championship lead.
At the conclusion of the fantastic race at Silverstone, Jean-Christophe Boullion and the #16 team lie just six points off the lead in their respective championships, meaning that the titles are still possible at the Mil Milhas at Interlagos in early November. Although harbouring concerns about the cost of attending South America's premier endurance race, the points situation left team owner Henri Pescarolo in a tricky situation, the veteran ultimately deciding that could not miss the opportunity to beat the works team.
Despite suffering a power disadvantage against the diesel-powered Peugeots, the faultless reliability of the Pescarolo-Judd has allowed the French team to remain in the hunt, as the two 908 HDi FAPs have shared victories between them, but allowed the Pescarolo to pick up regular podiums.
“I just hope that the risk I am taking in going [to Interlagos] will be appreciated," Pescarolo said, "My team invested so much to design and build our new car that they all deserved to participate to the Brazilian fiesta. It would have been too bad that the final round of Le Mans Series could be raced in the absence of the team which is still competing for the titles in 2007 - and which won the last two titles."
Pescarolo has confirmed that Boullion will be partnered by both Emmanuel Collard and Harold Primat in the 1000km marathon.
