Peugeot led the way in qualifying for the final round of the Le Mans Series at Interlagos, with a depleted field heading to Brazil for the 1000 mile Mil Milhas event.

With only the GT2 class boasting anything like a full entry, just 22 cars will contest the season finale, with half points only on offer in the top three classes.

It means a podium finish is all that is need for Stephane Sarrazin and Pedro Lamy to take the title, but the pairing took pole by two tenths of a second from the sister car of Marc Gene and Nicolas Minassian – with the diesel powered 908s again leaving the rest trailing in their wake. Indeed, the third quickest car, the Creation Autosportif entry of Jamie Campbell-Walter, Felipe Ortiz and Stuart Hall was over three seconds further back. The lone Pescarolo will share row two.

The Barazi-Epsilon Zytek of Juan Barazi, Michael Vergers and Karim Ojjeh led LMP2 in fifth overall ahead of the Rollcentre Radical and the Pierre Bruneau Pilbeam – the second Prototype class consisting of just three cars for the Brazilian race. That however, is still one more than in GT1, where the lone Luc Alphand Aventures Corvette outpaced the Aston Martin Racing Larbre Aston Martin.

In GT2, the Farnbacher Racing Porsche of Dirk Werner, Lars-Erik Nielsen and Pierre Ehret led the way in tenth overall ahead of a trio of JMB Racing Ferraris.
