Safety Car deployed at Le Mans

The Le Mans 24 Hours is running behind the Safety Car shortly after the start of the tenth hour of the race following an accident for the ORECA-Courage of Marcel Fassler.

The Swiss driver was running inside the top ten at the wheel of the #6 car when he went off into the wall at the Porsche Curves, close to where Marc Gene dramatically rolled his Peugeot during the test day.

The Safety Car was deployed as marshalls attended to the incident, with Fassler being carried from the car to a waiting ambulance - visibly shaken but appearing to be moving on the circuit's CCTV cameras.

The sister car has pitted meanwhile behind the Safety Car and has been pushed back into the garage.
