Italian driver Matteo Bobbi has agreed a deal to join the Racing Box team for the 2009 Le Mans Series season.

Bobbi, winner of the FIA GT title back in 2003, will partner Andrea Piccini and Mike Hezemans in the team's new Lola B09-Judd LMP2 entry and he admitted he was confident of a strong season.

"I have desired for several years to take part in a high level season behind the wheel of a prototype and this is certainly the right occasion," he said. "The Lola B09 promises to be very competitive as the whole package provided by Racing Box.

"This is an important programme, ambitious and with objectives that are necessarily high. The potential is high too and I think we have all what it takes to run an excellent championship."

The team will also look to secure an entry for the 2009 running of the Le Mans 24 Hours with the new car.
