Moreau to continue with Alphand

Guillaume Moreau has revealed that he will continue with the Luc Alphand Adventures team for the 2009 season, although the team is to turn its focus away from the Le Mans Series.

Although the Corvette team will return to the Le Mans 24 Hours to take the challenge to the works outfits, the full season focus will be on the FIA GT Championship, where Moreau will run alongside Yann Clairy in a GT1-spec C6.R.

“We were team-mates in Formula Renault 2.0 and we get on well,” Moreau said. “I know he's quick and I think we'll form a homogenous pairing. Our aim is to fight for victory in FIA GT. It won't be easy as we'll be up against Maserati MC12s, Aston Martins and the Saleen S7Rs, but I reckon we've got the right weapon with the Corvette C6.R.

“By entering this championship we're taking on a huge challenge in the form of very experienced teams and drivers. Unlike the Le Mans Series races, there'll be ten cars fighting for victory instead of just two or three! The FIA GT Championship is different from several points of view including the duration of the races. It's based around a sprint formula with seven two-hour rounds and the Spa 24 Hours. As all the cars on the track are GTs coping with traffic should be easier.”

Moreau added that his main focus was on a strong run at La Sarthe next summer in what is set to be the final Le Mans 24 Hours for the GT1 class in its current format before the introduction of a new GT class in 2010.

“It'll be my third time out at La Sarthe, and I'm as enthusiastic as ever at the prospect of competing in the greatest endurance race in the world,” he said. “We did a good job in 2008, but next year we're aiming to be on the same pace as the works teams.”
