Strakka set to bring Acura to Europe

Strakka Racing set to swap its Ginetta-Zytek for LMP2 Acura for the 2010 Le Mans Series campaign
Having moved into prototype racing in 2009, Strakka Racing is set to become the first team to run an Acura on European soil in 2010.

The team competed in the LMP1 class of the Le Mans Series and at Le Mans this season with a Ginetta-Zytek but is now reported to be turning its focus to LMP2 for the season ahead.

According to Autoweek, a deal has been agreed which will see the British team purchase the Acura ARX-01b as campaigned by Lowe's Fernandez Racing during the 2009 season.

The car successfully carried Adrian Fernandez and Luis Dias to the LMP2 title in the ALMS this year before the team was forced to close its doors due to a lack of sponsorship for 2010.

As well as running in the Le Mans Series, the American publication also reports that Strakka will run the Acura in the Le Mans 24 Hours, with official confirmation of the deal expected in the coming weeks.

Strakka has already confirmed that lead driver Danny Watts has agreed a new long-term deal to remain with the team alongside Nick Leventis.
