Monteiro rejoins ORECA for Algarve event

Having joined Team ORECA for the Le Mans 24 Hours, Tiago Monteiro has inked a deal to remain with the French outfit for his home round of the Le Mans Series in the Algarve.

With no clashing commitments in the World Touring Car Championship on the weekend of the race, Monteiro will get the chance to contest the first LMS event on Portuguese soil and is expected to bring in plenty of support from local fans.

"The Le Mans experience was really positive and I'm proud and delighted that Hugues de Chaunac has invited me to participate to the 1000km of Algarve,” he said. “The Oreca 01 is a fascinating car which gives you similar sensations to an F1 car. I will know the car better in Algarve and I'm looking forward to seeing how it behaves on such a spectacular track like Portimao.

“The fact that it's a night race spices up the challenge and I am keen to race at night. Fortunately, the 1000km of Algarve do not coincide with a meeting of the FIA WTCC and I didn't think twice before accepting the invitation. I can't thank SEAT Sport enough for giving me the opportunity to take part in this specific challenge.

“Firstly, I will race in front of the Portuguese fans and on a track that I really like. Plus, it will be a good occasion to share a great time with my sponsors and friends."
