Christian Bakkerud is to continue with the Kolles Audi team for the Le Mans Series event at the Portimao circuit in the Algarve, missing the DTM race at Oschersleben in the process.

Bakkerud is competing in both series' for the Kolles team this season, but with the prospect of only being able to take in one race during the weekend, the Dane has decided to focus on the LMS programme with the Audi R10 TDi.

“I have discussed the matter very intensely with the team, “ he said. “I have obligations in both the DTM and the LMS series, racing in the same weekend. If we could, I would have loved to race both series at the same time.

“The team and I concluded that it would be in our best interest, to focus my efforts in the series where I have the best chance of victory. I love racing in the DTM, which is one of the best touring car championships in the world. But in the Le Mans Series we have the best chance of success, and the team will definitely do everything they can to get us on the podium.”

Bakkerud will share the #15 car with Christijan Albers and Georgio Mondini in Portugal.
