The 19-year-old has turned heads since his first appearance on the international stage. In 2007 alone, he earned 12 podium finishes including three race wins in the highly competitive MX2 class.
Searle's career with KTM began at the end of 2006, his rookie grand prix season, when he signed to contest the 2007/2008 MX2 World Championship as part of the KTM Factory Team. Having made a very impressive US debut at the 2007 Motocross des Nation, held at the Budds Creek MX Track, Searle is excited to see what else America can offer.
"I am happy to sign with KTM in the US," said Tommy, who will compete in the 2009/2010 Motocross Lites Series. "This has always been a dream of mine. I am looking forward to working with the whole team; KTM is where I want to be," commented Searle on his move to the US.
KTM Off-Road Racing director Pit Beirer recognised Searle in 2006 after amazing performances put him up front all season. "His riding and rate of progression make him an excellent member of our MX2 team and we are now excited for his future achievements in the US," said the former grand prix rider.
KTM North America's Director of Racing, Kurt Nicoll added: "Tommy has the ability to be a champion. He is a hard worker and I have no doubt with the right team behind him he will be a front runner on the US racing circuit."
Searle is currently in California for preliminary testing with his future team.
