Philippaerts takes Czech victory

David Philippaerts has taken back the MX1 red plate after winning the Czech Grand Prix at Loket, ahead of Sebastien Pourcel and Jonathan Barragan.

Yamaha Monster Motocross' Philippaerts enjoyed an eventful weekend after crashing in the opening heat, but he recovered to claim third and then took overall victory by winning the final heat.

Pourcel was second for his first podium since the French event, while Barragan rounded off the podium having won the last three events. Erstwhile series leader Teka Suzuki's Steve Ramon was fifth behind Max Nagl on the Red Bull KTM, who won the first heat but faded in the second.

MX1 debutant Gregory Aranda was 12th for his first event, although there was disappointment for Billy Mackensive after he crashed in heat one whilst running second. He was taken to hospital but suffered no fractures.

In MX2, Brit Tommy Searle scored a hard fought win from team-mate and championship leader Tyla Rayttray. Both riders won a heat each, but Searle got the nod when he won the final moto at the end of the day. Anthony Boissiere was third, ahead of Nicolas Aubin and Stephen Sword.

Ireland will host the next round in Dublin in two weeks time.
